1. a cab in my office parking lot. this is weird because i am the only one who is supposed to be at work today… and well, most people do not take a cab to meet with their architect. also, my boss is out of town, and the only other employee is under constant surveillance of his father. he was arrested last week. for bad bad things (i would never have guessed). why is there a cab in my parking lot?

2. no way I will make it through this weekend with out knowing if we are pre-approved for a home loan. i need to know so that i can dismiss my dreams of a cute little bungalow for a generic apartment with bad carpet and old appliances.

3. a glint of sunshine in all the negative feedback/discoveries in the fact that i have a job when we move to MI. it might be a super pay cut, but it is a job - in michigan. we can make bank when cpt is a lawyer and making the big $$.

wow. we have 4 weeks until we leave alaska. there is so much that has yet to be decided. and so many...

wow. we have 4 weeks until we leave alaska. there is so much that has yet to be decided. and so many decisions to wonder about. the job hunt is still on, Captain just passed up an amazing job with an amazing salary in chicgao - are we doing the right thing? im working on more work samples and cleaning up the resume right now. more mass sending this week. i found an awesome job i would like to apply to. Cpt will not let me apply. there is a possibility of getting sent to iraq for civi work. i see that as an adventure, he remembers what he has been through there. this is one of the few times i will let him tell me what to do. i suppose he lost a bit of himself there - does not want to loose his wife too. im a bit sad about it, great adventure, would have been better than the peace corps, and i wont lie, it comes with a salary to match. we start packing this weekend. taking pictures of all of our favorite places too; the house with 6’ of garbage on the lawn, the half an air plane at the corner, the geodesic dome down the block, the house that used to be a forest fire look out tower, the pawn shop, my coffee house, ricker dog’s river, the beginning of our lives.

Now I am sitting in a hotel in Anchorage after trading in the truck (we miss you blue). Anchorage has at least double the amount of dealerships than Fairbanks. FB does not have a VW dealer. So we drove the 8 hours. We are now proud owner of a dark blue jetta TDI. We will get 50 miles to the gallon when we make the exodus out of Alaska back down to the L48. Talk about saving a TON of cash - o, and it’s way better for the enviro I hear.

Life is changing at the speed of light and this is only one small minute aspect of it all. Ok, prom is happing down the hall peace out -

I FINALLY bought myself one of these Clarisonic numbers. I have always had red blotches on my skin and my dermatologist suggested this. At $225 I laughed. With the wedding months away I reconsidered. I picked up my beautiful dress, I love the way it fits and am so happy with it….but then I zoomed in on the ugly marks on my arms.

With the upcoming events and the pending spa treatments, I decided that $225 was worth the feeling of beauty on my wedding day. I am not getting my make-up or hair professionally done…so this is my wedding beauty splurge.

Does anyone have one? Do you love it?

I will be posting an update myself as soon as I get my hands on it!

I love love love love love mine!! I get stints of bad adult acne, this little guy has taken care of most of the scars I have gotten and keeps my skin so much clearer!

Yukon Quest (A happy 8 degrees ABOVE 0)

Yesterday we went to the Yukon Quest. We were so excited that it was back up here, headed toward Whitehorse this year!

Lance Mackey has been the first across the Yukon Quest finish line 4 times in his career and first to finish the Iditarod 3 times. He has struggled with addiction and won while battling cancer. In 2007 he won both races in the same year.

This is Lance at the start line of this years Quest, he was the 11th to be cheered down the tunnel of people sending off all the racers on Chena River in down town Fairbanks.

These are his excited puppies amped to run the 1,000 miles to the finish line.

These are more send teams read for the long haul. I love their matching team jackets and booties!

I tried the gluten filled cake yumminess. It was divine… I have not had cake cake in - a long time. Now I am paying. Thanks cake. Ugh.

How are we going to work the whole feeding each other cake when I can not eat from the part we cut off the big gluten filled one? Hide a plate of the GF in the corner? Ugh.

They are going to find me in a corner with a bread basket and the cake topper eating away all the anxiety from the day, a hott blotchy red nauseous bride, it will be awesome.

Tonight we get to broach the topic of when the wedding shower will be. We will also have to discuss how the MONTH long fishing trip/exodus to the lower 48 will need to be cut in half, because of when the shower needs to be.

I am not a horrible wife; I have a delusional husband. With his brother’s wedding this summer, my cousins wedding, and our own wedding there is just not time for this super unnecessarily long adventure.

I'd rather see you once a month than someone else seven days a week.

This is so sad. I wonder what her husband thinks of all this? Did he push/support her to do it? God that is a scary thought.

I love that Captain loves me for all of me; my Italian bump of a nose, my tiny 32B(on a good day) breasts, my 26 almost 27 year old butt that is starting to see the effects of gravity, the stretch marks on my hips from becoming a woman, the lines in my face from laughing never-end-ing-ly with him, my legs with thighs that carry all my weight and now are the home of small amounts of cellulite and gigantic calves (made bigger from our walks up and down the road (aka mountain) we live on)… It’s the body that wraps around him every night we are together he would not have it any differently.

(I should state that he would never deny that the trampy version above his hott… but he would say she is made much less attractive and undesirable because she is not real.)

O, and it looks like she is trying to substitute her breasts for swim wings… interesting way to combat drowning.

Now is the time we begin to look for homes. In the beginning of June we will be moving back to the “lower 48” to begin our CIVILIAN (boy does that sound great, and uncomplicated) life together. This is my dream home, at a dream cost, in a dream location. Not only does this house exist here, a dream job as a director of facilities and construction exists here, and it is smack dab in-between the in-laws, near a GREAT law school!

Keeping my fingers crossed that everything lines up!
