I am not marrying my soulmate in September. I am marrying the man i want to continue discovering the future with, I can not imagine it otherwise. We have been through a lot together: two deployments to iraq, ups and downs, love and death, inspiration and funks, near and far, change and consistency, secrets and truths, quite moments and loud graces, the new and the old, frustration and clarity, long drives and quick kisses, privacy and public display. There has been much and yet there is a life time more.

The perfect dress

I follow a lot of girls getting married on here. It seems like one of the biggest and most overwhelming things is finding the dress… Here are some suggetions I have:

1. Bring as few people to the dress salons as possible (eg. your mom, OR your sister, OR your best friend), and make sure that person knows you well and has your interests as theirs for the mission.

2. Remember when you were 5 and you imagined the most amazing dress ever, tule everywhere and sparkles and satin and lace? Remember when you were 17 and you imagined that dress again, only more sophisticated and less tule? Remember when you were 23 and it was just the right amount of lace, sparkle and sexiness? Today, when you are 26… take a deep breath, you have had the dress in your head for a life time — do NOT buy the Pnina Tornia corset back, sheer bodice, most popular in 2009 dress. That is not what you have dreamt of your whole life and not what you are going to be happy with when you look at your photos in 25 years (just ask my mom!). Stick with your gut and who YOU are, not with what the TRENDS tell you to be.

3. Wear underwear to the appointment, the girl across the fitting room did not… SICK.

4. Once you have found the dress, stop looking!
